Bonnie and Tortie: 🎋🐢

quotes, life

During a short lunch conversation this summer, I learned a deep lesson about myself and my internal values.

me: tortoises and bonsai trees are so great, they live forever and ever* and are so peaceful and zen. One day I think I’ll get myself a baby bonsai tree named Bonnie, and a baby tortoise named Tortie Johnny, and eventually, both of them will out-live me.

[ … ]

me: Flushing, NY is so great, it’s Chinatown, except it reminds me of exactly how my childhood was – there are millions of old grandpas and grandmas, and grandchildren are running laps around them with the wholesome, hunchbacked grandparents peacefully reminding them to be careful.

friend: Sounds like a bonsai tree and tortoise won’t be enough.

I’ll forever cherish and extrapolate the profoundness of the beautifully simple and curt feedback of my silly musings from friends and family.
